Hints for Each Category

Category 1: Professional Groups
Think about words that refer to collective organizations or alliances. Consider terms like union and guild.

Category 2: Close-Fitting or Tightly Bound
Look for adjectives that describe physical or metaphorical snugness. Words like snug and sleek may come to mind here.

Category 3: What an Apostrophe Might Indicate
These are grammatical terms related to punctuation marks, specifically the apostrophe. Possessive and contraction should be your starting points.

Category 4: Occasions for Kneeling
This one involves moments or events where one might traditionally kneel. Proposal and apology could fit here.

If you still want the answer then follow me along the article or you can find the answer at the end.

Step-by-Step Thought Process

Attempt 1: Professional Groups
The first group seemed straightforward. Words like association, union, league, and guild pointed toward a category involving alliances or organizations. After a bit of overthinking, I landed on Professional Groups (or Alliances) as the correct match.

Attempt 2: Adjectives for Close-Fitting Things
Next, I focused on descriptive words like snug, clingy, slinky, and sleek. These all describe something tight or close-fitting, whether it’s clothing, objects, or even a metaphorical sense. The category here was Close-Fitting.

Attempt 3: Grammatical Terms
When I noticed possessive, contraction, and quotation, I started thinking about grammatical terms. I hesitated on foot, but then it clicked—an apostrophe can indicate a contraction, Possessive, or even a quotation. This was the correct group.

Attempt 4: Occasions for Kneeling
Finally, I turned my attention to words like proposal, prayer, apology, and—unexpectedly—dubbing. While I wasn’t entirely sure how dubbing fit, the broader theme of occasions where one might kneel made sense, and this group was categorized as Occasions for Kneeling.

I’d rate myself 1.5 out of 4 today. I figured out the first group fairly easily, but I struggled with dubbing in the final category and overcomplicated some other connections. It was a challenging puzzle with a lot of red herrings—anyone else get stuck on similar guesses?
