Well, everyone, it’s Tuesday, June 10th, 2025. I’m back, and you know what time it is — it’s time once again to play some Wordle.
Now, today we’ve got a fun opener from longtime viewer of the channel, Randy Atwood, who writes:
“Seems appropriate to start with PaPal.”
And yeah… that is appropriate. I actually touched on this in a recent episode of Doug Reacts, which, yes, I still do every now and then — sporadically, but with heart.
For those who missed it, an interesting little piece of trivia came out recently...
So, the world just witnessed the election of a new Pope — Pope Leo the 14th — and as the media started to uncover details about his life, it turns out... His Holiness plays Wordle daily.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning!
If you haven’t played today’s Wordle yet, pause here. Otherwise, let’s solve it together.
Let’s Solve the Puzzle
First Guess: Papal
⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜
Alright! We’ve got an A in the correct spot — second position, no double As, which is good to know.
Second Guess: Baton
Now, yesterday, trying a second vowel helped a lot, so let’s repeat that approach.
We’ll test the letter O and add some solid consonants.
How about the word “baton”?
That gives us a B, T, and N along with the A and O.
BATON
⬜🟩🟨⬜⬜
Okay — the A’s still solid in position two, and now we know T is in the word, but not in the right spot. O, B, and N are out.
Third Guess: Haste
Let’s think this through.
We’ve got:
-
A in position 2
-
T in the word, but wrong spot
-
No O, B, or N
-
Only one A
I'm thinking about ending with E here. Maybe we shift the T to position four?
How about “haste”?
It uses good letters — H, S, T, and E — and could give us great info.
HASTE
⬜🟩⬜🟨⬜
Hmm. Still only the A in position. T is... still not where it belongs. And everything else? Out. That was not as informative as I hoped.
Fourth Guess: Tacit
Now here’s a strategy call.
We’ve got two guesses left. I’d really like to lock down the T’s position.
So I’m considering the word “tacit” — it starts and ends with T, and uses a C and I we haven’t tried yet. Bonus: we’ll confirm if there’s more than one T.
It’s risky, but at this stage, I think it's worth it.
TACIT
⬜🟩⬜⬜🟩
Alright — now we’re talking! We’ve found the T’s position at the first. And it’s the only T.A. still safe at position 2.
Fifth Guess: Tardy
That gives us a few options.
“Tardy” is coming to mind. It uses R and D, both still in play, and Y is a wildcard — but Y at the end is a common pattern. It’s either that or maybe... Taffy?
But I like “tardy” as a penultimate guess more. Let’s go for it.
TARDY
🟩🟩⬜⬜🟩
Oof. A miss. A big miss. R and D are out.
Sixth Guess: Taffy
Now it has to be “taffy,” right?
Let’s think — T and A are locked in place. F and Y are still untested. We know there’s no R, D, O, E, U, or I.
“Taggy”? Not a word. “Tammy”? Proper noun. We’re running out of road.
This is our last shot.
TAFFY
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
YES! Yes! There it is — Taffy in six.
Wow. Deep exhale.
Taffy. In six. That was a tight one — and honestly, I had it in mind a guess earlier but “tardy” just seemed like the better eval.
Just goes to show — this game keeps you humble.
Tomorrow Guess
So there you go. A real nail-biter today.
Thanks for sticking with me — Tomorrow is Wednesday, and we’ll be starting with the word “ounce” — that’s O-U-N-C-E.
Thanks again for reading, and we’ll see you tomorrow for some more Wordle.
