First Guess: "Third"
Today's Wordle journey began with the word "Third", suggested by a good friend of the show. It made perfect sense—it’s the third month of the year, and "Third" is a solid starting word with a nice mix of common letters.
After submitting the guess, I got some feedback. The "D" was in the correct position at the end, while the "R" was in the wrong spot. Not a bad start! This gave me a few directions to consider. The most logical step was to find a word that kept "D" at the end while repositioning "R" correctly.
Second Guess: "Round"
The first word that came to mind was "Round". My instinct was to place "R" at the front, and since we already knew "D" belonged at the end, this word seemed like a strong choice.
I submitted "Round," hoping for a bit of luck, but the result wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. The "D" was still correct at the end, but now we knew that "R" had to be in either the second or third position.
At this point, I had to rethink my approach. The puzzle was taking shape, but I needed to figure out the missing vowels.
Third Guess: "Bread"
With the "R" now confirmed to be in the second or third spot, I started thinking of words that fit that structure. I also realized we hadn't yet tested "A" or "E," so I wanted a word that contained both.
After considering words like "Breed," "Greed," and "Freed," I decided on "Bread." Not only did it contain the letters I needed to test, but it also felt like a strong contender for the actual answer.
I typed it in, hit enter, and… still not the correct word. However, this was a valuable guess. Now I knew that "E" belonged in the word, and the "R" was in the second position. That left only a few possible words.
Fourth Guess: "Creed"
At this point, I was down to just a couple of options. The possibilities left were "Freed" and "Creed." Since "Creed" felt slightly more common, I decided to try it first.
I submitted the guess, expecting this to be the winning word. But no—the puzzle wasn’t done yet! That meant one thing: "E" was in the right spot, but "C" was incorrect. Now, it all came down to one final choice.
Final Guess: "Greed"
With "Creed" ruled out, I was left with "Greed." I double-checked my options, making sure I hadn’t overlooked another possibility. But no, it had to be "Greed."
I took a deep breath, entered the word, and hit submit.
And there it was—Wordle solved!
It was a rollercoaster of a game. I started off thinking I might solve it in two guesses, but as things played out, it took all five to get there. That’s the fun of Wordle, though—some days you get lucky, and some days you have to work for it.
