"Probe" is a solid starting word, offering two classic vowels (O and E) and some less common consonants. The result was interesting. The letter R is in the correct position, and E is in the word but in the wrong spot.

Not a bad way to start! Now, it's time to figure out where that E belongs.

Second Guess: Great

Since E wasn’t in the right place, I decided to move it to the middle and introduce another vowel while testing two fresh consonants. "Great" seemed like a logical choice.

Unfortunately, this guess provided no new information. The E was still misplaced, and none of the other letters were in the answer. That meant it was time to rethink the strategy.

Third Guess: Cruel

With E not in the middle, I suspected it belonged in the fourth position. That led me to "Cruel."

This guess revealed something crucial: I was wrong about the middle letter. I was not in the answer at all. Now I needed a new plan.

Fifth Guess: Dryer

Here’s where I realized my mistake—I had forgotten about the letter Y. Sometimes, when vowels don’t seem to fit, Y can step in as an unofficial one.

"Dryer" immediately jumped out as a possibility. I locked it in, feeling strangely confident despite the chaotic path I took to get here.

And just like that, it was the correct answer!

Final Thoughts and Tomorrow’s Starting Word

This puzzle was a fun mix of logical deduction and overlooking an obvious option. Lesson of the day: never forget about Y.

Tomorrow’s starting word will be "Salet." I’ll admit, I blanked on its meaning for a moment, but it sounds like the name of a fancy chocolate brand, so I’m rolling with it.
