Today Wordle No. 1439 Hints & Answer for May 28, 2025

Well hello, Wordlers! It’s Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, and I’m back again to dive into today’s Wordle. Let’s see what today’s puzzle has in store, shall we?

We got a witty comment today from Mr. Nostil, quite possibly one of my favorite usernames. They wrote:

“You may use a May-themed word in May, but ought you?”

Now that’s clever wordplay. I’m a fan of the word “ought”—a rare but thoughtful word. So let’s take the suggestion seriously and use it as our starting word.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning!
If you haven’t played today’s Wordle yet, pause here. Otherwise, let’s solve it together.

Let’s Solve the Puzzle

OUGHT
🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜

We’ve got just one letter: O is in the word, but not in the first position. Not a lot to go on yet, but it’s a start!

Second Guess: CRONY

I don’t know why, but "crony" popped into my head—maybe one of those weird gut feelings. It keeps the O, moves it to the middle, and checks some fresh consonants like C, R, and N.

CRONY
⬜🟨🟨⬜⬜

Interesting! O is still in the word, but not in the middle either. We also got another word "R" but also not in its correct position. That narrows down the possibilities.

Third Guess: MORAL

I’m starting to wonder if O might go second. "MORAL" lets us test a new vowel (A) and brings in the useful consonants M, R, and L.

MORAL
⬜🟩🟨🟩🟨

Now this is progress. O, R, L, and A are all in the word, and A, O is in the correct position! While R and L are in the word but not in the correct position.

We’ve got a solid pattern forming: _ O R A L.

Let’s think of options that fit this mold. Right now, two clear possibilities jump out:

  • Polar

  • Solar

Both fit everything we know, and I don’t think we’re missing any outliers here.

Fourth Guess: POLAR

It’s a 50/50 guess, but let’s go with “polar” first. If we’re wrong, we still lock in most of the structure.

POLAR
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Boom! Got it in 4!
That felt like a cool breeze of luck… or maybe just some polar intuition.

Wordle Answer for May 28, 2025: POLAR

A crisp, refreshing word—and a satisfying solve. Thanks again to Mr. Nostil for the thoughtful (and punny) suggestion.
