If you haven’t played today’s Wordle yet, pause here. Otherwise, let’s solve it together.

Let’s Solve the Puzzle

First Guess: FIFTY
Let’s see if the birthday magic is with us.

Fifty

⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜

Okay, well… that’s a start. It’s something. There it is.

You know what the worst birthday I ever had was?
I was 7 years old. Grade school. You know how big birthday parties are at that age? Social highlight of the year. I’d been looking forward to mine all year.

Then I got chickenpox.
Party? Canceled. So yeah… let’s not repeat that on this puzzle today.

Second Guess: CHASE
Feels like something to go after, and hey—C, H, and S are classic friends.

CHASE
⬜🟨🟩🟩⬜

Hmm… okay. We’ve got an H and an E in the puzzle, just not in those spots. Alright, alright.

I think we might be looking at something ending in -ASH. You know—A-W-A-S-H, S-L-A-S-H. Let’s list some:

  • AWASH

  • SMASH

  • SLASH

  • TRASH (already ruled out T)

  • BRASH

There’s a decent list there. Hmm.

Third Guess: BRASH
Let’s check for the B and R. If we get either one to light up, that’ll help a ton.

BRASH
⬜⬜🟩🟩🟩
Alright! No B, no R—but look at that: A-S-H confirmed at the end.

That knocks out BRASH, SMASH, SLASH… we're narrowing it down.

Fourth Guess: SMASH
Because why not? SMASH feels like it could bring some birthday fireworks.

SMASH
⬜⬜🟩🟩🟩
Nope! And now we know there's no S or M either. So SLASH is gone too. Whew, narrowing it more.

Now we’re down to things like:

  • AWASH

  • QUASH

  • NASH? (as in gnashing teeth?)

  • LASH?

Let’s think…

QUASH is now looking really promising. But I’m not ready to gamble my birthday guess on it just yet.

Fifth Guess: SAUNA
Same idea. Covers A-W-A-S-H with the double A, and covers NASH via the N. Let’s see it.

SAUNA
🟨🟨🟨⬜⬜

And we get a U. Ding ding ding! That seals it.

It has to be QUASH.

Just doing the mental run—U isn’t going in the front. It has to sit second. Q-U-A-S-H. Yep. I think we’re there.

Final Guess: QUASH
Will my birthday Wordle be quashed? Or solved?

QUASH
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
Yes! There it is. Few is correct!

Was I hoping for a nice little joyful birthday Wordle party? Sure.
Did I get put through the wringer instead? Oh yeah. But we got there.
